Messiah’s Mission Statement is a laser focused mission centered firmly in Jesus Christ’s Great Commission and Great Commandment. Jesus’ Great Commission is to “go make disciples of every nation, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit; and teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.  And lo I am with you always to the very end of the age.”  (Matthew 28:16-20)

Jesus' Great Commandment of course is where Jesus said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind; and love your neighbor as yourself.”  Jesus’ Great Commission and Great Commandment are not optional for us as his followers—these are his marching orders for his church; for all who seek to follow him by faith.

Our vision is to be a church that provides relevant worship which respects and uses helpful traditions; yet is learning new music and ways to praise God. This vision is to be a church with Biblical teaching messages which help people with their questions; their life challenges; in being able to use their faith to make an impact each day.

This vision is to be a church with small groups that connect adults together in learning and support; Lenten video series that learn from some of the best preachers in the country; mentors for each Confirmation youth; mission projects and trips for youth and adults; Stephen Ministry that ministers one on one; prayer at the altar each Sunday at 9:00; people sharing faith journey testimonies in worship; etc. Messiah is about impacting your life for Jesus Christ.

It's a fact that everyone is seeking for something in their existence. Some may be seeking for happiness; friendship; for security; for a comfortable lifestyle. Some others may be seeking deeper things like purpose; meaning; hope; love; faith. While others may be seeking to be a good Mom/Dad; a good child/family member; a good employee; a good supervisor (boss; business owner). Every person is seeking for some certain things for their existence. This is also true in a church like Messiah. Each one of you are at different places in your spiritual journeys; you are all seeking for different things.

Messiah's Mission Statement begins with the word “Seek.” It means that each one needs to affirm, needs to welcome seekers whoever they are.  This can of course be kind of messy because those who seek are often not simply content with doing things the way they always have been done.

This first word in Messiah's Mission Statement empowers this congregation in everything we do—to think about those who are seeking.  Whether it be worship, children’s & youth ministry, fellowship groups, outreach—how can you share Jesus’ love with those all around you who seek?

As we welcome those who are seeking, as we reach out to those who may be all over the map as far as questions about faith and the church, Messiah’s mission is to help provide places where people are able to easily connect in significant relationships; in ways and opportunities to be involved.

Jesus is calling us as his church to offer opportunities where new people can easily connect to various groups, ministries, friendships; can ultimately connect in faith and growth in God’s love.

This is why, at Messiah you will find many Ministries like the Praise Team, Technology Team, Welcome Team, Stephen Ministry Team, Vision Team, Succession Planning Team. There are multiple events for the youth such as I.M.P.A.C.T. (Influencing My Peers As a Christian Teen) where teenagers learn how to live out a Jesus filled life among their peers, volunteer opportunities for people of all ages to donate to Salvation Army, package food for children in impoverished countries, and host community events such as a bake sale and car wash to raise money.

There's opportunities everywhere at Messiah for people to find a smaller community within the family of Christ to connect, learn, and thrive.

The most common reason today for not being part of the church is that increasing numbers of people see absolutely no purpose in it whatsoever; it isn't relevant to their needs. This is why the vision word “impact” is so important.  The church today needs to offer an environment where an individual's faith in Jesus is growing stronger; where one’s faith empowers them to make a positive impact in their daily existence—in their relationships with friends; in their marriages and families; in their work; in the community.

One other thing people often list as to why they don't go to church is because they say church people mostly talk a good game—yet where is the impact; the action?  We say we love others—yet in practice church people often condemn/judge others; churches are often filled with fights, complaining and divisions; churches often keep people out unless they agree with them. Messiah's mission and vision is to be a church that doesn’t just talk a good game; rather to be a church filled with grace, understanding and care; a church that loves God above all things and loves our neighbors (along with others who aren’t like us) as we love ourselves.

Simply put

Messiah’s mission is to be a church where people know it is okay to seek; it's okay to simply not like the ways church has always been done; where concerns are listened to and change actually happens; where people want to be here because the relationships are real and helpful; where people feel that being part of Messiah helps empower them and teaches them to better make an impact each day. And above all, it is our mission to be a church that not only teaches the good news of Jesus Christ and what He has done for us, but also lives the gospel each and every day.
